The optimisation technology developed by Oulu-based technology company AI Dimension provides Tiera Optima‘s home care planning with unprecedented computing power. At the heart of the solution lies AI Dimension’s patented technology, but the system’s true value is measured in people’s everyday lives: as better quality home care and smoother working practices.
Home care planning is a mathematical challenge involving an enormous number of variables and an astronomical number of possible schedule permutations. The right carer must be with the right client at the right time, taking into account medications, continuity, competency requirements and travel between visits. Tiera Optima’s goal is to solve this equation in a client-centred way.
Tiera’s Solutions Manager Marko Hyvönen emphasises that the primary purpose of the technology is to deliver high-quality home care and increase client satisfaction – on the clients’ terms.
“We don’t just optimise kilometres driven, but the entire service event. We want to ensure that care work is of high quality and that it is directed where the need is greatest,” says Hyvönen.
Seamless integration is a competitive advantage
One of Tiera Optima’s significant strengths is its deep integration with Tiera’s own Enterprise Resource Planning system. “We have a direct, ready-made integration that ensures seamless data flow between systems. Other enterprise resource planning systems do not have a comparable integration available off the shelf, or building one requires a separate IT project,” Hyvönen notes.
This technical head start means that wellbeing services counties can focus on developing their operations from the very moment of deployment, rather than worrying about system integrations.
Strategic vision and technological superiority
In addition to managing day-to-day operations, Tiera offers its clients a comprehensive view of the future. Tiera’s Business Director Kati Penttilä explains that Tiera Optima is also utilised in strategic work.
“We carry out strategic optimisations for our clients, which means taking a holistic look at resources and resource needs. This helps organisations to prepare for the future and to scale their services appropriately over the long term,” Penttilä describes.
The solution conserves natural resources in two ways
For such demanding computational operations and strategic simulations to be possible, there must be exceptional power under the bonnet. This is where AI Dimension comes in. The company’s Head of Client Relations, Riku Hämeenniemi, explains that the company’s technology plays a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of Tiera Optima in all circumstances. “The optimisation engine we have developed, based on patented parallel computing and our own hybrid AI, enables Tiera Optima to process vast amounts of data and find the best solutions quickly and efficiently” says Hämeenniemi. “The Optimisation Engine is available via an open interface to enable any ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system to offer the same capability.”
Hämeenniemi points out that AI Dimension’s technology conserves natural resources in two ways. “On the one hand, excessive travel is reduced, and on the other, the load on computing resources optimisation consumes to achieve this is minimised. This delivers significant net carbon reductions.”
